A large crowd gathered outside the high school in DeSoto, Mo., to say goodbye to Staff Sgt. James Ide,
including Gov. Jay Nixon.

The 32-year-old from Festus was a father of two who was killed in Afghanistan when his unit
came under small arms fire on Aug. 29. Ide was one of seven killed that day during insurgent attacks.
